Big Announcement – Where is the Indecisive Traveler Headed?

I have some very exciting news. I’ve known this for awhile, but I’ve been holding back on announcing it. I just wanted to make 100% sure that it was actually happening. Well, the plane tickets have been purchased and things are really speeding up so it’s time for the big announcement.

Anyone want to guess the secret behind this door?

I’m moving to Puerto Rico!

As of the end of September 2014, I’ll be living in Puerto Rico, just outside of San Juan.
My boyfriend, Pedro, and I have decided to live in Puerto Rico (where Pedro is from) for the next few years while Pedro gets his PhD from the University of Puerto Rico. I will continue to freelance and travel, but my home office will hopefully have a much more appealing view.

Possible office view? Probably not, unless I worked in the middle of a plaza in Viejo San Juan.

Pedro is actually moving to Puerto Rico a bit sooner so he can start taking and teaching classes. We’ll be embarking on a quick road trip from St. Louis down to Miami this weekend (July 24th-28th) in his car so we can get it to a port and ship it to the island. We’ll be stopping in Atlanta, GA and St. Augustine, FL on the way so if anyone is in those areas and wants to meet up, please let me know! We’re also looking for places to eat dinner in both of those places so suggestions are welcome.

Latin America Lite

Ever since I left Argentina and moved back to the US, I’ve been longing for Latin American life. I do not, however, miss the headache of getting residency, work visas, or any of that nonsense, which is why Puerto Rico is the perfect place for me right now. It’s all of the Latin American culture that I love but without any of the paperwork. Hooray!

Padfoot adds another country to his list

Padfoot, looking as awkward as ever.

For those of you who enjoyed the stories of my dog Padfoot the reluctant traveler – you can look forward to plenty more of that. Padfoot will be joining Pedro and I in Puerto Rico. I have lived and learned from my travels with my nervous pup, so this time I’ll be traveling with him in the cabin only (no more dogs-as-checked-baggage stress) and paying for first class so that everyone will be nicer to me. If I have learned anything from traveling with a pet, it’s that money is no object when it comes to the safety of your pet and your own sanity as you deal with a furry travel companion.

Stay tuned!

I cannot wait to share my amazing new adventure with all of you. So many hilarious stories, beautiful photos, and new experiences are on their way.
