Fancy Cocktails in San Francisco

I love a good drink. While I am not a huge fan of paying absurd amounts of money for an over-priced rum and pineapple in a bar, I will occasionally indulge in a well-mixed adult beverage. I made such an exception for a fancy cocktail in San Francisco.

Unique Cocktails in San Francisco at the Orbit Room

Sara, Chris, and I had some time to kill while we waited on a table for sushi, so we walked down the street to a bar called The Orbit Room. The atmosphere was unapologetically hip, and I do not mean hipster, as there were certainly no PBR beer specials. In fact, I couldn’t imagine why anyone would bother with a beer at all after taking a look at the tantalizing cocktail menu.

The best kind of complicated

Each drink description seemed to take up at least two lines. Take a look at this one, for example:

Pimm’s Cup
Pimm’s No. 1 aromatic liqueur, cardamom-infused gin, lemon bitters, rose syrup, lemon juice, cucumber juice, seltzer.

Um, can you say refreshing?

I had a hard time deciding, I was stuck between these two:

spring shrub cocktail

Spring Shrub
Strawberry-balsamic drinking vinegar, vodka, rose wine, and lemon juice served on the rocks with mint.

Mint Hill Punch
Cubes of frozen celery juice, vodka, lavender syrup, lime juice, orange flower water, garnished with fresh rosemary.

I ended up with the Spring Shrub. It was very satisfying. Sara ended up ordering the Mint Hill Punch so I had a couple sips. It was much more light and refreshing than mine, but if you are looking for more alcohol-y taste, the Spring Shrub is for you.

I’d love to spend an after with a good book, a notebook, and pen and try every single one of the cocktails at The Orbit Room. They even come in pitchers. Anyone up for the challenge?
